Captain Harry Kane may be without a goal in his last six games for his country, but England have not scored in Spain since Gary Lineker scored all four goals in a 4-2 win over the Spaniards back in 1987 in the Santiago Bernabeu.

We’ll bring you all of the team news and build-up to tonight’s match, so stay tuned for all the action

The current record stands at 55,453 after the Seville derby last season and with some of the world’s best players on show, there could be a new record attendance set tonight in Seville. For those who need a refresher, here’s our short guide to Uefa’s newest international competition.

What is the Uefa Nations League?

The Nations League will replace most friendlies and run as a separate tournament alongside the qualifiers, with finals being held in odd, non-tournament, years.

Uefa has separated 55 European nations teams into four leagues based on co-efficient rankings as of 11 October 2017.League A has the top-ranked sides, with League D incuded the lowest-ranked. Leagues are split into four groups of three, with England in Group A4 along with Spain and World Cup finalists Croatia.

Group winners then contest the Uefa Nations League Finals (semi-finals, third-place and final) in June 2018 to become Uefa Nations League winners.

The four nations who finish bottom of their groups are relegated to League B for 2020.

How will it impact European Championships qualifiers?

While the Nations League will not replace qualifiers, only the majority of friendlies, it will still have a bearing on who makes the finals of the European Championships.

Qualifying will still take place as usual, with the top two teams from seeded groups progressing to the finals in 2020.
However, it is the 16 play-off places which are decided by the Nations League.

Each League (A-D) has four play-off spots, one for each of the group winners. If the winner of the group already has qualification sealed then their play-off spot goes to the next best side and so on.

The four nations from each league taking the play-off spot will then play a one-leg semi-final and a final to determine who will take their play-off spot and progress to the finals, meaning four nations will progress and join the 20 nations who qualify first and second from their separate European Qualifiers groups.
